The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has introduced “Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration: SHA” certification in collaboration with the other governing bodies from both public & private sector partners. This project is among various measures taken by the Thai Tourism Authorities to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 crisis. To help the country’s once dynamic and robust tourism industry to a path of recovery. The certification is aimed at upraising the country’s tourism industry standards and boost the confidence of both international and domestic tourists in a post-COVID-19 world. The certification is directed at tourism operators in the country to prepare them for the return of the travel and tourism business in the post-COVID era.
The TAT is working with all the governing bodies including the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Association of Domestic Travel, Board of Trade of Thailand, Thai Retailers Association, Thai Hotels Association, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Thai Restaurant Association, Federation of Thai Spa and Wellness Association, Thai Amusement and Leisure Park Association, Thai Spa Association, Thai Boats Association, and Event Management Association. It has also launched a mini-site dedicated to the TAT – Amazing Thailand Safety Health Administration which can be accessed at www.tourismthailand.org/thailandsha.
Five key areas have been identified by the authorities. In line with the evaluation methods and methodology of assessment for tourism establishments and services. Establishments are required to be affiliated with the Amazing Thailand SHA Certification. These areas are as follows:
⇒ COVID-19 control guidelines by the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health must be strictly followed and adhered to by the tourism establishments and services & Resort
⇒The safety guidelines must be followed at tourist attractions and facilities. With development plans or operation procedures to ensuring tourist safety. Further, interaction between local communities and tourists must be promoted while maintaining local culture.
⇒Regular and proper care of hygiene and sanitation in tourism establishments and services. Such as homestays, lodges, souvenir shops and restaurants
⇒Steps should be taken regarding the convenience, cleanliness, and safety of linkages between communities and tourist attractions. The safety and health standards must be followed in transportation services, including private cars, public buses, and airlines.

The confidence building in tourism personnel in tourism and service establishments with regards to tourist safety and security protocol.
Amid COVID-19 crisis, the Amazing Thailand SHA certification project is an integral part of TAT’s realigned strategy. To promote and stimulate spending from domestic tourism to boost the tourism industry in the country.
